Customer demand
The NEP’s RF-department often provides cutting-edge wireless mobile-connections for marathons and cycling races. For the UAE Tour, NEP also wanted to do so for organizer RCS Sports. The organization preferred the entire TV team to be arranged by one party. NEP ended up asking Argus to fill in the editorial functions, so that we could win the tender together.

Approach
In addition to providing EVS operators, we were also asked whether it was possible to provide them with an onboard camera manager, an editor for the highlights, a slomo- and junior director and a director for the pre-race sign up and during the race. We also hired an external (lead) director for this job. Even though we have a lot of knowledge and skill inhouse, we’re not afraid to bring in outside expertise for the best outcome. We submitted a very strong team to NEP and due to the awesome collaboration, we won the entire tender!
Results
To broadcast this World Tour in the best way possible, Argus traveled to the Emirates with a team of seven people. Unfortunately, because of the corona-virus the tour ended prematurely. The run-up and the first few days, however, demonstrate that combining the right facilitairy staff with the editorial quality Argus provides is an almost unbeatable combination. Organizer RCS Sport therefore praised all the services provided and was very impressed with how well the teams worked together and responded to one another.
